The Story of the Trapp Family Singers

April 15, 2008 at 6 : 48 268 Kommentaar

Maria Augusta Kutschera is in 1905 in Weenen gebore.  Sy was deur ‘n oom groot gemaak as ‘n ateis.

Teen Georg se sin moes hulle begin sing, as die Von Trapp Familie Sangers.  Hulle dirigent was ‘n priester, Vader Franz Wasner.

Johannes was in 1939 in Amerika gebore.

Maria is in 1987 dood.

Blogvraag:  Baie maklik – In die fliek, watter kind se naam vergeet Maria as sy bid?

Eendag toe ek nog jonk was
Toe sit ek in die kantien
Ek drink toe daar ‘n dop of tien
En dit om kwaad te dien
Een van my maters die vra vir my
om saam na die huis te gaan
Want die pad loop langs die kerkhof
En dit is ‘n nuwe maan

Die een ou spook was vet
En die ander ou spook was maer
Hulle sit daar in die donker maan
    Die hele klomp by mekaar.
Die een klomp skree Ho Ho
Die ander klomp skree Hie Hie
Hulle sit daar in die donker maan
    Die hele klomp deurmekaar.

    [Danny]
Well she was good you know what I mean

    [Everyone]
    Woah!

Could she get me a friend?

    [Sandy]
It turned colder – that’s where it ends

    [Danny]
So I told her we’d still be friends

    [Sandy]
Then we made our true love vow

    [Danny]
    Wonder what she’s doing now

    [Both]
Summer dreams ripped at the seams,
    bu-ut oh, those su-ummer nights….

    [Everyone]

    Listen to the ground:
    there is movement all around.
    There is something goin’ down
    and I can feel it.

On the waves of the air,
    there is dancin’ out there.
If it’s somethin’ we can share,
    we can steal it.

    And that sweet city woman,
    She moves through the light,
Controlling my mind and my soul.
When you reach out for me
Yeah, and the feelin’ is bright,

Then I get night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

    Here I am,
Prayin’ for this moment to last,
Livin’ on the music so fine,
    Borne on the wind,
    Makin’ it mine.

    Night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

In the heat of our love,
Don’t need no help for us to make it.
Gimme just enough to take us to the mornin’.
I got fire in my mind.
I got higher in my walkin’.
    And I’m glowin’ in the dark;
    I give you warnin’.

    And that sweet city woman,
    She moves through the light,
Controlling my mind and my soul.
When you reach out for me
Yeah, and the feelin’ is bright,

Then I get night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

    Here I am,
Prayin’ for this moment to last,
Livin’ on the music so fine,
    Borne on the wind,
    Makin’ it mine.

    Night fever, night fever.
We know how to do it.
Gimme that night fever, night fever.
We know how to show it.

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk,
I’m a woman’s man: no time to talk.
    Music loud and women warm.
I’ve been kicked around since I was born.
    And now it’s all right – it’s O.K. –
And you may look the other way.
We can try to understand the New York Times’ effect on man.
    Whether you’re a brother or whether you’re a mother,
    You’re stayin alive, stayin’ alive.
Feel the city breakin’ and ev’rybody shakin’
and we’re stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, Stayin’ Alive.
Well now, I get low and I get high
And if I can’t get either I really try.
Got the wings of heaven on my shoes
    I’m a dancin’ man and I just can’t lose.
    You know it’s all right, it’s O.K.
I’ll live to see another day.
Life goin’ nowhere. Somebody help me.
    Somebody help, me, yeah.
Life goin’ nowhere. Somebody help, me, yeah.
Stayin’ Alive — (to beginning and fade… Well, you can tell…. )

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a 1968 feature film with a script by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes, and songs by the Sherman Brothers, based on Ian Fleming’s book Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car. It starred Dick Van Dyke as Caractacus Potts and Sally Ann Howes as Truly Scrumptious. The film was directed by Ken Hughes and produced by Albert R. Broccoli, best known as co-producer of the James Bond series of films, also based on Fleming’s novels. Irwin Kostal supervised and conducted the music, and the musical numbers were staged by Marc Breaux and Dee Dee Wood. It was photographed in Super Panavision 70 by Christopher Challis.

The film went significantly over budget, but was a box office hit. Although it received favorable reviews in the UK, Europe, and the East Coast of the United States, Hollywood was unkind in its reviews. The film’s producers had culled the behind-the-scenes talent from the biggest Hollywood musicals from the 60s as well as its own team who had worked on the hit James Bond films. The movie has become a children’s classic.

This is livin’, this is style, this is elegance by the mile
Oh the posh posh traveling life, the traveling life for me
First cabin and captain’s table regal company
Whenever I’m bored I travel abroad but ever so properly
Port out, starboard home, posh with a capital P-O-S-H, posh
The hands that hold the scepters, every head that holds a crown
They’ll always give their all for me they’ll never let me down
I’m on my way to far away tah tah and toodle-oo
And fare thee well, and Bon Voyage arrivederci too
O the posh posh traveling life, the traveling life for me
First cabin and captain’s table regal company
Pardon the dust of the upper crust–fetch us a cup of tea
Port out, starboard home, posh with a capital P-O-S-H, posh
In every foreign strand I land the royal trumpets toot me
The royal welcome mat is out
    They 21 gun salute me
But monarchies are constantly commanding me to call
Last month I miffed (missed) the (a) Mufti but you can’t oblige them all
Oh the posh posh traveling life, the traveling life for me
Oh rumpetly tumpety didy didy dee dee dee dee dee
Oh the posh posh traveling life, the traveling life for me
First cabin and captain’s table regal company
When I’m at the helm the world’s my realm and I do it stylishly
Port out, starboard home, posh with a capital P-O-S-H
    P-O-S-H, P-O-S-H…

That get you down. Like Bernie.
    Bernie like to chew gum.
    No, not chew. POP.
So I came home this one day
And I am really irritated, and I’m
looking for a bit of sympathy
    and there’s Bernie layin’
on the couch, drinkin’ a beer
    and chewin’. No, not chewin’.
Poppin’. So, I said to him,
    I said, “you pop that

    I met Ezekiel Young from
Salt Lake city about two years ago
and he told me he was single
and we hit it off right away.
    So, we started living together.
He’d go to work, he’d come home, I’d
fix him a drink, We’d have dinner.
    And then I found out,
    “Single” he told me?
    Single, my ass. Not only
    was he married
…oh, no, he had six wives.
One of those Mormons, you know. So that
night, when he came home, I fixed him
    his drink as usual.
You know, some guys just can’t hold
    their arsenic.

Uncle Sam, hogy én tettem. Probáltam

    [JUNE (Spoken)]
Yeah, but did you do it?

    [HUNYAK]
    UH UH, not guilty!

    [VELMA]
    My sister, Veronica and
    I had this double act
    and my husband, Charlie,
    traveled around with us.
Now, for the last number in
our act, we did 20 acrobatic tricks
one two three four, five…splits, spread eagles,
    back flips,flip flops,
    one right after the other.
Well, this one night we were in the hotel Cicero,
    the three of us,
    boozin’ and
    havin’ a few laughs
when we run out of ice.
So I went out to get some.
I come back, open the door
    and there’s Veronica and
    Charlie doing Number Seventeen-
    the spread eagle.

Well, I was in such a state of shock,
    I completely blacked out.I can’t remember a thing.
    It wasn’t until later,
when I was washing the blood off my hands
I even knew they were dead.

    They had it coming
    They had it coming
They had it coming all along
    I didn’t do it
    But if I’d done it

    I loved Alvin Lipschitz
more than I can possibly say.
He was a real artistic guy…
    sensitive… a painter.
    But
    He was always trying
    to find himself.
    He’d go out every night
    looking for himself
    and on the way
    he found Ruth,
    Gladys,
    Rosemary and Irving.
I guess you can say we broke
    up because of artistic differences.
    He saw himself as alive
    and I saw him dead.

Thanks to the carelessness of a cute little dog, newlyweds Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin are killed in a freak auto accident. Upon arriving in the outer offices of Heaven, the couple finds that, thanks to a century’s worth of bureaucratic red tape, they’re on a long celestial waiting list. Before they can earn their wings, Davis and Baldwin must occupy their old house as ghosts for the next fifty years. Alas, the house is now owned by insufferable yuppies Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones. Horrified at the prospect of sharing space with these obnoxious interlopers, Davis and Baldwin do their best to scare O’Hara and Jones away, but their house-haunting skills are pathetic at best. In desperation, the ghostly couple engage the services of a veteran scaremeister: a yellow-haired, snaggle-toothed, profane, flatulent “gonzo” spirit named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). The problem: Beetlejuice cannot be trusted-especially when he falls in love with O’Hara and Jones’ gloomy, black-clad teenaged daughter Winona Ryder. Beetlejuice producer David Geffen, director Tim Burton, and composer Danny Elfman were also involved in an animated TV-series spin-off. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

ok…

    (Uit my Fair Lady)
Eliza Bed! Bed! I couldn’t go to bed!
My head’s too light to try to set it down! Sleep! Sleep!
    I couldn’t sleep tonight.
Not for all the jewels in the crown!
I could have danced all night!
I could have danced all night!
And still have begged for more.
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things I’ve never done before.
    I’ll never know What made it so exciting;
Why all at once My heart took flight. I only know when he
Began to dance with me I could have danced,
    danced, danced all night!
Servant 1 It’s after three now.
Servant 2 Don’t you agree now,
She ought to be in bed.
Eliza I could have danced all night!
I could have danced all night!
And still have begged for more.
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things I’ve never done before.
I’ll never know What made it so exciting.
Why all at once my heart took flight.
    I only know when he
    Began to dance with me.
I could have danced, danced danced all night!
    Mrs. Pearce I understand, dear.
    It’s all been grand, dear.
But now it’s time to sleep.
Eliza I could have danced all night,
I could have danced all night.
And still have begged for more.
I could have spread my wings,
And done a thousand things I’ve never done before.
I’ll never know What made it so exciting.
Why all at once my heart took flight. I only know when he
Began to dance with me I could have danced, danced,
    danced All night!

(words & music by jerry leiber – mike stoller)
The warden threw a party in the county jail.
The prison band was there and they began to wail.
The band was jumpin and the joint began to swing.
You shouldve heard those knocked out jailbirds sing.
    Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.

Spider murphy played the tenor saxophone,
Little joe was blowin on the slide trombone.
The drummer boy from illinois went crash, boom, bang,
The whole rhythm section was the purple gang.
    Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.

Number forty-seven said to number three:
Youre the cutest jailbird I ever did see.
I sure would be delighted with your company,
Come on and do the jailhouse rock with me.
    Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.

The sad sack was a sittin on a block of stone
Way over in the corner weepin all alone.
The warden said, hey, buddy, dont you be no square.
If you cant find a partner use a wooden chair.
    Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.

Shifty henry said to bugs, for heavens sake,
No ones lookin, nows our chance to make a break.
Bugsy turned to shifty and he said, nix nix,
I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks.
    Lets rock, everybody, lets rock.
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin to the jailhouse rock.
